Welcome to my portfolio. This page documents my journey through my major in Japanese Language & Culture at CSU-Monterey Bay.
Personal StatementAt a very young age I developed an unquenchable thirst for Asian languages and culture. Around age 12 I realized that I had a very specific interest in Japan's art, literature and history. I began looking up "how to learn" tutorials on the internet on the regular basis but my real journey didn't start until I was in high school. My high school offered 3 years of Japanese instruction to prepare the student for university and beyond. Finally in university I was able to fully immerse myself in Japanese language and culture classes.
I have a B.A. from CSUMB in Japanese Language and Culture. I spent 1 year at J.F. Oberlin university in Tokyo for my study abroad. This stay allowed me to apply skills I acquired at CSUMB and also improve upon them in the way only complete immersion can through a combination of university courses and interaction with my community in Japan. After graduation I hope to find work locally around my hometown in the central valley of California. Eventually I look forward to finding a job overseas or an international opportunity with the government of the United States. |
