WLC 400: WLC Major Capstone
Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also assemble a Graduation Portfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese, Spanish and World Languages and Cultures majors.
Reflective Narrative
This course is the culmination of all of my work in this major. Following our MLOs, we put together a research project using Google slides, forms and sheets. Initially after creating our topic, we did a literature review which required time spent on the library website researching appropriate sources. Next we organized our data and applied the correct citations to our slides and our bibliography respectively. We met the librarian a few times who revealed to us new more advanced ways to use the library but also gave us tips on how to organize our research notes. We completed our final powerpoints, surveys and papers in this class in both English and Japanese. This process required application of our knowledge of the Japanese language, our skills in research and technology and also our experiences understanding the Japanese culture in order to develop our topic's research and write effective survey questions. With the help of the work from Pre-Capstone, my partner and I were able to finish an entire research project in two languages, fulfilling MLO 4. Examples you can see below.
Example Work:
English Paper
Japanese Paper
English Powerpoint
Japanese Powerpoint
English Survey
Japanese Survey
